An impression of the course 'seeing the big shape: learn to draw the human figure better'

Here is an impression of the course ‘seeing see the big shape: learn to draw the human figure better’, which was taught by Merlijn Groenen and Ilse Nass. We really enjoyed working with this talented group, who seemed so eager to learn.

During this course we focused on the fundamentals of figure drawing: a study in line that depicts the main aspects of the figure (head, torso and hips), and how the weight is distributed. We drew short poses to get familiar with the gesture of the figure, and did longer studies to incorporate the things we learned from the anatomy lectures.

During the second part of the year-long program (lessons from the masters), we will also work with tonal values.
